Robins and Swallows had a whole day of Art on Friday. Our focus was collage with textiles and materials. The children spent time sewing, binding yarn, independent junk modelling, making a portrait collage of the Queen's face and making a collage of the universal recycling symbol. They also contributed to a whole group art piece of the Hungry Caterpillar.
We used artist Eric Carle as our inspiration for the day. We also took the time to remind ourselves of other artists such as Paul Klee, Yayoi Kusama and Kandinsky who are artists who have inspired us in previous Art lessons. We were very impressed with the children's ability to learn new techniques and apply them to their work.
