We were thrilled to welcome Dr Jed Atkinson, an education officer from Craven Museum, to our school as part of British Science Week, running from 6-15 March 2026. Dr Atkinson brought a wealth of knowledge about rocks, captivating our young learners with his engaging approach.
During his visit, the children had the opportunity to classify different rock types, exploring fascinating rock samples under microscopes and magnifying glasses. This hands-on experience allowed them to discover how rocks are formed and the unique characteristics that distinguish each type.
In addition to rocks, Dr Atkinson introduced the children to the world of fossils, explaining that they are not always from dinosaurs! The students learnt how fossils provide valuable insights into our planet’s history, sparking their curiosity about the past.
