Parents will not be disappointed as they discover an education that embraces excellence and academic rigour within the wider framework of spiritual, physical, intellectual, emotional, moral and social development and enables their children to flourish.
We want pupils to leave school with a rich experience and understanding of Christianity, and we are committed to offering them an encounter with Jesus Christ and with Christian faith and practice in a way which enhances their lives. (Church of England Vision for Education 2016)
At Kildwick CE VC Primary School we will continuously strive to ensure that everyone in our school is treated with respect and dignity and that their views are valued. The school aims to provide religious education of the highest standard; we encourage and promote an understanding of the meaning and significance of faith and seek to develop enquiring and engaging minds. We seek to develop an understanding of the Christian faith and other major religions, fostering respect and tolerance to ensure that children embrace and value diversity.
The purpose of teaching Religious Education in school is to:
- To show children that Christianity is about following the living God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit and is relevant to their daily lives.
- To extend children’s ability to reflect upon themselves as whole people, experiencing life through body, mind and spirit.
- To help pupils understand the significance of religion and its contribution to their spiritual, moral, social and cultural development.
