Pupils at school enjoyed a visit from a Dhrama, a Buddhist monk. They learnt all about Siddhartha Gautama, the founder of Buddhism, and his life. We also found out that there have been many Buddha's, not just one. They discussed how thoughts can affect feelings and the way that we act and how compassionate we feel. She also told the children about the benefits of meditation and how this can help with thoughts. Then, the children enjoyed doing a breathing meditation- we felt so calm afterwards! She explained that meditation takes practise and the more that you do it, the better you will get! The children asked lots of brilliant questions and were so interested in learning about her religion.
