Delaunay

Week 1 - Robert Delaunay inspired art

This project was based on a simple idea of using everyday household objects as templates to create overlapping and intersecting geometric shapes and colouring them in vibrant colours to create artwork similar to Robert Delaunay’s paintings.

We used colouring pencils and A4 white card as well as a range of interesting object to draw around and use as templates. We used objects like kitchen utensils, a spanner, a pair of scissors and a letter opener.  Look at our fantastic work and see if you can spot them among all the shapes and colours.

*Robert Delaunay was a French painter active in the first half of 20th century, he was a founder of Orphism – optic cubism, famous for using strong colours and geometric shapes in his work.
