In preparation for our visit to The Houses of Parliament in January and the pupil prime minister topic we will be exploring around the time of the general election, we invited candidates for the role of MP for Skipton and Ripon into our classroom.

Julian Smith, of the Conservative party, Andrew Murday or the Liberal Democrats and Brian McDaid of the Labour party were put to the test with the questions that Year Six asked them. The representative for the Green party will be visiting school next week.

Questions ranged from what they would do to help our local area, if they'd ever met the Queen and what their opinions were on Brexit.

It's given the children lots of ideas about what to include in their own manifestos, which they will be writing in the next few weeks.
