We have put so much effort into our lovely garden at the Rec. We tried weaving some willow to make a den, which I am sure you will agree is cool! We use it in the summer for shade. This year, we are growing onions in one of our beds. I'm so excited to see them grow. We have also cleaned the shed windows so the sun can get to the plants in the shed.
Our broad bean plants from last year were old and not good any more so we took them out and put new ones in. Horse manure was added to the beds as well to help the new plants grow. The strawberries were thinned out. To thin the strawberries out, we had to take a small strawberry cutting and plant it in another flower bed. This will help them to not get overgrown again.
Just a couple days ago, we planted some daffodil bulbs right at the back of the garden. You won't get to see them right now but if you go to the back of the garden when they are fully grown (in spring) they will be beautiful. When we were in Reception we went to this little area in the garden and had forest school lessons. It was FUN! We have noticed that we get lots of bees in the garden and they are really important for pollination.
Last year, we did our best to use the food in our garden as ingredients for school dinners and we hope to do the same again.
