Kingfisher Class have had a super and very busy spring term! The Kingfisher children have worked so hard and had lots of fun too.

We have celebrated World Book Day and Science week along with the rest of the school. We enjoyed dressing up as a book character for World Book Day and as one of the school Scientific Inquiry Characters for Science week while doing activities linked to these themes such as a water resistance boat race and a parachute test.

We loved learning about cities in geography and in particular focusing on London. We now know how to read a tube map and enjoyed learning about popular places to visit in London! We also enjoyed reading the adventures of Paddington and writing our own Paddington adventures! We did some amazing line drawings of city skylines and put these all together to make a collaborative piece of art. We also made some more colourful, painted cityscape pictures.

In History, we loved looking at the Stone Age, Iron Age and Bronze Age artefacts and learning more about these periods of history. We wrote some amazing adverts to sell Stig's house in Stig of the dump!

In DT, we put our sewing skills to the test and designed and made our own bags. We enjoyed learning different stitches and thinking about the best fastening to use and way to decorate the bags.

All of the Kingfisher children have made fantastic progress in their swimming lessons this term and it has been lovely to see them becoming happier and more confident each week in their swimming lessons.

The year 4 children rounded off the term with a residential trip to High Adventure. They walked there and back and stayed for two nights, enjoying exciting activities such as canoeing, indoor caving, abseiling and ziplining. They were so brave and even when nervous gave everything a try. For some children, this was their first time staying away from home. They all showed each other so much kindness and support. They really should be so proud of themselves!

We had an amazing spring term, I wonder what the summer term will bring!
