The Spring term curriculum meeting took place Tuesday 7 February 2023, in school during the school day, to allow children to join the meeting. As usual the meeting focused around the school vision: Learning to Live, Living to Love, Loving to Learn and the school strategic plan.

Minutes of the 6 December 2022 Full Governing Board meeting were approved and will be put on the school website.

Governors looked in detail at the Maths and PE curriculum, hearing from staff subject leads and the children, and reflecting on recent governor monitoring of both subject areas.

Mr Horton, Maths lead, updated governors on the implementation of the Maths curriculum across the school and Mr Whitehead, as PE lead, discussed PE provision. Governors were able to ask questions of both Mr Horton and Mr Whitehead.

The children, from all class groups, were then able to share their experiences of both maths and PE, providing an important additional insight for governors - the children managed the session pretty confidently and I hope enjoyed the experience.

Governors remain confident that the school continues to provide a high quality education for all children and that there are robust approaches in place to ensure a consistency of approach from the early years through to Year Six.

Governors are keen to continue to promote ‘pupil voice’ and are pleased that the children were able to join the meeting. Mr Horton, Mr Whitehead and the children were thanked for their time and contributions to the meeting.

Governors noted a report from the Burley Woodhead English Hub on the recent cross school reading audit which highlighted strengths in early reading and phonics and made suggestions for further development - it is anticipated that school will be able to access additional funding for reading books following the audit process.

Governors then approved a number of school policies, including on: appraisal; complaints; education visits; and data protection. School policy documents can be found on the school website.

The next governing board meeting is the Spring Term Finance and Resource meeting, scheduled for 15 March 2023 - this meeting should begin to give further insight into the school budget ahead of the 2023-2024 financial year.

Further information on the work of the governing board can be seen on the school website.
