To complete our history topic year One and Two enjoyed a trip to Skipton castle. We had a guided tour with the dungeon and ‘long drop’ being firm favourites. We were surprised to learn that children the same age as us would have the job of collecting all the wood for the castle fires.
The children were very knowledgeable and could remember lots of facts including who first built the castle, how and why the castle had changed from a Motte and Bailey to a stone medieval castle.
